Ban the Batistas Applauds Hageman’s Efforts As Food Prices Continue to Rise

New York, NY (July 16, 2024) – Executive Director of Ban the Batistas, Kimberly Spell, issued the following statement today in response to Congresswoman Harriet Hageman’s letter to the SEC urging them to deny JBS’s U.S. IPO over concerns regarding their history of bribery, corruption, and market manipulation.

“Congresswoman Hageman is exactly right for calling out JBS and the Batista brothers for their extensive criminal history and ongoing corporate misconduct. This is a company built on corruption and bribes that has used its might to crush small farmers and ranchers, boxing out local competition and driving up food prices for families across the country.

If the SEC rewards them by allowing JBS access to the New York Stock Exchange, they would be endangering U.S. investors and consumers while telling the Batistas and all of corporate America that crime pays.”
